Elias Howe - Inventor

elias howe

Even the sewing machine owes it's invention to a dream. Elias Howe was stuck for a solution for a working model. One night he dreamed that a savage king ordered him to invent a sewing machine. When Howe said that he'd tried but couldn't, the whole tribe raised their spears to kill him. Just before the fateful moment, Howe noticed that each spear had a hole in it just above the point. This was the vital clue needed for the commercial perfection of the sewing machine.

Nineteen centuries before Freud, the night before Julius Caesar led his army across the Rubicon River to attack Rome, he dreamed that he slept with his mother. Caesar interpreted this dream to mean that the invasion would succeed.
Unfortunately, he later failed to heed the dream warning of his wife, Calpurina, who warned him to "beware the Ides of March". On March 15th 44BC , Caesar was assassinated in the Senate by republicans, including Brutus and Cassius, who feared his monarchical aspirations.

Marie Antoinette - Queen of France

Some time before the French Revolution, Queen Marie Antoinette, the wife of LouisXVI of France, dreamed of a glowing red sun rising above a column, like a temple pillar. She heard a loud "crack" as the column split in two and fell to the ground. The dream was understood to be a symbol representing the fall of the monarchy. She was guillotined in 1793.
